I have found, after years of therapy, that my men’s group has had some of the greatest effects on me. That and doing the ManKind Project’s warrior weekend. Having a community of like-minded men who are all working on developing a non-toxic form of masculinity is utterly amazing. As men, we can no longer ignore the wisdom of our emotions.
There’s an old Chinese saying: “The need to show power is a sign of powerlessness.” Similarly, I propose that “those who need to show masculinity probably aren’t.” I have learned that true strength lies in the ability to be authentic.
