Hmmm…only sort of, I think. That’s one kind of creativity — directed, single-focused, implementable. Then there is the wider vision — the “what feeling do I want to portray on this canvas…” kind of creativity. A painter or musician isn’t, I think, solving a problem as much as evoking, communicating, an emotion. The reason it’s hard, I think, is that it goes against the grain of a fundamental force of the universe: entropy. Creativity is one of the few anti-entropic forces in the universe. One of the few things that creates order out of chaos. No wonder it’s hard.
