Your definition of passive income is a bit off, in my experience. It’s not so much “income that is not generated on a per-hour basis,” but “income generated for which you are not the means of production.” The first definition would include anyone who’s on salary, for instance, which (I am pretty sure) is not what you mean. Writing is *not* passive income, however you are paid. The fact that you can make money from your writing for a long time after you’ve written it doesn’t make that part of the income passive. It just means you have an employer who pays slowly! Really truly passive income only comes from having lots of money that makes enough in interest to live off of. Of course, then you still need someone to manage it. Ultimately, it comes down to “there aint no such thing as a free lunch”!
