This is a very well-known type of problem in mathematics, called “the optimal stopping problem,” and there is a very well-established answer to this problem: 37%. If you have a problem that requires research before you act, the optimal outcomes are reached if you spend 37% of your time researching, then go into action mode that is informed by the 37% of your time you’ve spent researching and getting knowledgeable.
